Chocolate pudding created from scratch is always a hit. With whole milk, an unsweetened chocolate bar and a few other standard ingredients, it’s a breeze to whip up a batch of deliciousness in no time. Homemade chocolate pudding tastes amazing. A common reaction I hear is, “This is the best chocolate pudding I’ve ever eaten.”
Chocolate Pudding
- 1-1/8 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 4 tablespoons butter
On medium heat, stir together sugar, cornstarch, milk, chocolate and salt. Cook until bubbly and thickened. Once it’s at that point, cook an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
In a mixing bowl, gradually spoon the about half of the hot mixture into the eggs, while stirring frequently. Transfer everything back to the pan, return to medium heat and cook an additional 2 minutes.
Remove from heat, stir in butter, then pour the hot pudding into individual cups or bowls. Refrigerate a few hours before serving. Top with whipped cream, fruit, chocolate curls, etc.
