Food Photography Class
Having recently finished the spring 2017 semester at CU Boulder that included a photojournalism course, tonight I took a one-time class at Austin’s Precision Camera on food photography.
One of the most helpful tips for the night was to start using a tripod, which I never do. The person who taught the class is a local food photographer with an arsenal of tricks for what she does, such as propping food with triangle-shaped makeup sponges, spraying water mixed with corn syrup to create fake condensation and using river rocks in the bottom of a soup bowl to allow the chunks to emerge on top as the liquid stays below. I genuinely admire good photography and will continue pursuing excellence.
